That literally has never happened to me with ClearCase. I suggest avoiding branches. Also, try to get the rest of your team working in a shared directory. That solves most merging problems in my experience, which are usually caused by developers who change code and fiddle with DVCS instead of just using the preprocessor and file system features that have come standard for thirty years. Linux is GREAT!!! Period!
OK! I’m just kidding!
Actually, different people means different needs.

At my own PC, I kept Win7 RC but I switched to Ubuntu as my main OS.
What I like at Linux is, Freedom as value (community and GPL based instead of corporate), free to use and share, free to hacking everything you want (from GRUB to Compiz), free to use the command prompt for almost everything (since I’m an old DOS junkie), and free to extensive use the source code compilation.
From the other hand, companies are just starting to support it, so if someone has to use Photoshop or similar apps, it has to stick to it’s current OS for his production line.

What I liked at Linux as a newby, was the learning process (I read and practised A LOT) and collaboration at fora (where I posted tons of questions)!
I suppose if someone doesn’t have the time for the learning curve and wants more than the basic tasks, just out of the box from his OS, then he don’t want (or he actually can’t) move away from his current OS.
On the other hand, learning something new, keeps you mentally alive, years after the school era (I’m 41yo.).

Well, I actually posted to say A BIG THANKS to you, to Rene and to all the developers and maintainers of QMC2!

Just installed Ubuntu 9 dual boot. It is great. Boot up time is really fast.

Multi-boot systems are still hard work to install. Those boot loaders errors can be so unhelpful…

I run Linux and have a Windows XP system as guest in Virtual Box. It’s easier for me that way, at the cost of some performance.

International athletes are kind of ambassadors for their country. At one point the issue is no longer about the individual – it is about the image of the sporting body and how Australia presents itself to the international swimming community.

For a lot of jobs, there is a clause in the employment contract that involves termination of employment when the employee is convicted of a criminal offense. This is not really any different.

There are plenty of swimmers who will gladly take that spot on the team and do whatever it takes to stay out of trouble.

There are imported games at GamesPortal, not so cheap as they were though as the Aus$ has dropped. DS and Playstation 3 dodn’t have region coding, the Wii does.

FYI, the most recent safety reports out of the US say that LATCH/ISOFIX is no safer than the regular seat belt, it’s really just a convenience thing.

Firefox?? um..mine is falling apart..ever since i downloaded the newer version…what happened to the back and forward buttons? i don’t know? then i added them ..and then they were gone again and i can’t add them..now my navigator bar/browser is gone..WTH? HATE IT! unfortunately when i click on a link from my email it uses Firefox..sigh.. hate it..and Opera…well..it just makes me type in my email and password all over again even when i click “remember” are there any other one’s besides Safari?

I never liked exceptions… probably because I’m lazy and exceptions mean I have to write catches for them all… isn’t writing code that throws an exception an example of avoiding having to write some code that deals with a failure condition… I guess if you want to do all your error handling in a particular layer, and have all the catches their to do logging or something… but otherwise, just a different kind of pasta dish… fettucini perhaps…

I can’t remember the last time I wrote code that went out of bounds of an array… seriously…

Ah, I understand you now. Yes, I agree with you that it is a bit hypocritical, although I think a lot of the constructs are much more limited versions of goto and so therefore not quite so bad.
